A Way To Learn recognizes and respects the uniqueness of each child. We specialize in reaching students with learning disabilities, executive function disorders, and children on the autism spectrum. We cater to the individual needs of each child.

Our primary mission is to foster independence in each learner, and offer tools and strategies for a lifetime of learning success.

Through tutoring, home-based services, family support services, workshops, and comprehensive educational support, we are striving to meet the growing needs of the children in our community.

Michele Isenberg, Master in Education and Dawn Matera, Master in Special Education have created A Way to Learn to meet the growing needs in our community for educational support services that reach a diverse population of learners.

They have been serving the LD community for over ten years in both traditional and non-traditional settings. They bring a special blend of compassion, professionalism, and the ability to program for the most challenging of learners.

Michele Isenberg graduated from Smith College with a Bachelor of Arts in Developmental Psychology, a Master’s of Education, and completed CT state certification in regular education, grades K-6. She also holds a Nebraska teaching certificate for grades K-8. Michele taught in Massachusetts and Nebraska before coming to Connecticut. Here, she taught pre-school before joining the teaching staff at a school for students with learning disabilities. She is the mother of three children and her son Zachary’s Autism inspired her to expand her training into the field of Autism.

Dawn Matera graduated from Sacred Heart University with an Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education, a Bachelors of Science in Psychology, and CT Elementary Education Certification, grades 1-6. Dawn also completed her Master’s Degree in Special Education with an emphasis on Learning Disabilities at Southern Connecticut State University and is cross-certified in the area of Special Education, grades K-12. Dawn worked in pre-school and Head Start programs before beginning her 8 year career at a school for students with learning disabilities. Dawn specializes in executive function and processing disorders.
